Dr. Colina,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for allowing me to listen to your thoughts regarding the topic of translation and interpretation. After listening to your podcast, I want to outline an important skill that to me is extremely important. You make a great point regarding the need to adjust things in a text in order to render an accurate translation or interpretation. Being bilingual does not guarantee that another person will understand what you mean to say because what may "sound good to the translator" does not mean it sounds good to the audience. It is critical to make this known because, like mentioned in the podcast, the knowledge of an audience constantly varies. While being accurate to the text is important, making sure the idea of the interpretation or translation is known is as crucial as remaining faithful to the idea that is to be portrayed.
Thank you,
Alondra Soto
